There are small towns around Asahikawa city, there are all agricultural towns. You can see the rural scenery in 30 minutes by car. Since coming to Asahikawa, I recommend staying in a real farm house and enjoying the country life. For example, firewood cutting experience, vegetable picking experience, Japanese home cooking experience and so on.
It is real pleasure of traveling to get to know the culture of this area and along with locals.
